Feet Forward

A talk show to heal the social and political divide

Diana Osberg: Creator, Producer, Director

Jack Erdie: Producer, Host

On May 9, 1969, episode 1065 of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood made a gentle splash that was felt around the world. At a time when public swimming pools were segregated, Fred Rogers shared his wading pool with Officer Clemmons, an African American character on the show. This episode is the inspiration for FEET FORWARD, a talk show that focuses on listening to each other, without judgment, and finding solutions to healing the social and political divide in our country.

Conservatives and liberals sit around a wading pool with their feet in the water and hold a respectful conversation on hot-button issues, such as race, sexual-orientation, politics, climate change, and religion. Through the use of compassionate communication, this moderated conversation focuses on listening and understanding without judgment to find common ground and help us heal the divisions in our family, friendships, community and country.

Be part of the conversation to explore our differences through compassionate communication.
